DC Defenders Stand Alone As The Top Team In The XFL At Midseason

Week 5 of XFL action is in the books, and the 5-0 DC Defenders are standing tall above the pack. The Houston Roughnecks have a chance to pull even with DC on Sunday, and gain a tie-break edge with a victory.

Houston Roughnecks @ DC Defenders

  • Point Spread: Houston +2.5, DC -2.5
  • Moneyline: Houston +125, DC -145
  • Over/Under: 42.0

Betting on the DC Defenders to cover the -2.5 spread against Houston will require them to win by a field goal or more. Before Week 5, Houston had been rolling, beating all teams in their path by sizable margins.

We think the smart money is on Houston this weekend as they look to rebound from their disappointing loss to the Seattle Sea Dragons last weekend.

Seattle Sea Dragons @ Orlando Guardians

  • Point Spread: Seattle -9.0, Orlando +9.0
  • Moneyline: Seattle -370, Orlando +285
  • Over/Under: 42.0

Saturday at 1 PM, the aforementioned Sea Dragons travel to Orlando to play the struggling Guardians. Orlando has not won a game thus far in 2023.

The Guardians have played a couple teams very close, however. We’re laying off of Orlando games for a bit because they are bound to beat someone eventually.

St. Louis BattleHawks @ Vegas Vipers

  • Point Spread: St. Louis -3.5, Vegas +3.5
  • Moneyline: St. Louis -165, Vegas +140
  • Over/Under: 42.5

Scheduled for a 7 PM kickoff on Saturday, the St. Louis Battlehawks go on the road to Sin City to face the Vegas Vipers.

St. Louis is now two games behind DC in the XFL’s North Division, tied for second place with the Sea Dragons who also hold a 3-2 record.

It may be now or never for the Vipers as another loss will make qualifying for the playoffs difficult. Look for the Battlehawks to cover on the road.

San Antonio Brahmas @ Arlington Renegades

  • Point Spread: Brahmas +3.0, Renegades -3.0
  • Moneyline: Brahmas +140, Renegades -165
  • Over/Under: 32.5

This Sunday at 3 PM, another key matchup for XFL Playoff contention gets underway when the 1-4 San Antonio Brahmas play the 3-2 Arlington Renegades.

Betting on the Brahmas will deliver payouts of $2.40 on $1 wagers if you think they’ll upset Arlington in their house.

Championship futures have been removed from the boards, but it can be assumed that the DC Defenders and Arlington Roughnecks would be featured at the 1 and 2 positions.

Our top XFL betting sites should all have futures odds posted soon. We’ve noticed a trend where these odds begin to roll out around mid-week.

Week 6 will usher the modern XFL into new waters as the 2020 incarnation of the league folded after five games. It is all downhill from here as there are only five more weeks to go until the XFL Playoffs begin on April 29th.

How the league performs from here on out will factor largely into their potential for returning for a 2024 season.
