The DC Defenders are going all-in for the 2025 United Football League (UFL) postseason. They recently added former NFL wide receiver and standout Auburn player Seth Williams to their roster ahead of week 8.
Last week, the Cowboys obtained WR George Pickens from the Steelers, but needed a roster spot for the new addition. Unfortunately for Seth Williams, the Cowboys cut him to make room for Pickins on the team. Williams was initially signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad before renegotiating a deal with Dallas in January of this year.
Williams signed a deal with the DC Defenders less than a week after being cut from the team. The Defenders are currently the UFL’s top passing team, led by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu, who has 1,750 yards and 14 touchdowns in seven games this season.
Defenders Lead The XFL
The DC Defenders are currently tied for the top spot in the XFL Division of the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks. With both teams sporting a regular-season record of 5-2, a playoff berth is almost assured, barring a total collapse.
The Defenders have three games left in the regular season. This week, they take on the Renegades (third in XFL), then in week 9, the Roughnecks (third in USFL), and then they finish the season against division rivals the Battlehawks in week 10.

As you can see, despite odds favoring the Defenders to win this week and increase their record to 6-2, futures rank them fourth among teams to win the UFL Championship.
The XFL conference has yet to win a championship in the UFL. With the addition of WR Williams and Jordan Ta’amu’s hot hand, the Defenders are putting their best foot forward with just a few weeks left of the regular season.
