The United Football League (UFL) recently announced that 46 of its athletes have secured spots on NFL teams for the 2025 season, including 12 on active rosters, 23 on practice squads, and 11 on injured reserve or the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Of these, 28 competed in the UFL over the past two seasons, while 18 are alums from earlier spring football leagues.
Among the standout names:
- Perrion Winfrey (Birmingham Stallions) joined the Dallas Cowboys’ active roster after a strong UFL season with 29 tackles and a forced fumble.
- Sal Cannella (Arlington Renegades) signed with the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, having led his team in receptions.
- Jacob Saylors (St. Louis Battlehawks) landed on the Detroit Lions’ practice squad after leading the league in rushing yards over two seasons.
Other notable NFL additions include:
- Jake Bates (Detroit Lions), Brandon Aubrey and KaVontae Turpin (Dallas Cowboys), Jalen Redmond (Minnesota Vikings), and Dondrea Tillman (Denver Broncos).
In total, 106 spring league players participated in NFL training camps this year, including athletes from the pre-merger XFL and USFL. UFL teams will retain the rights to these players should they return to the league.
League Changes For 2026 Season
Last year, the UFL struggled with fan attendance, and rumors circulating this offseason have some fans worried that their teams could be on the move. Some of the unconfirmed league changes for the 2026 UFL season include team relocations, expansion plans, and a new free agency period. However, none of the rumors have been confirmed by the league, but here is what we know.
- A new free agency window will be introduced, allowing players who’ve spent two seasons with the same team to explore new opportunities.
- Following the shortening of training camp in 2025, the UFL plans to lengthen the preseason in 2026, providing teams with more time to prepare and build chemistry, which is hoped to result in a better football product.
- Trademark filings for former USFL team names, such as the Oakland Invaders, Philadelphia Stars, New Jersey Generals, and Tampa Bay Bandits, suggest potential team revivals or possible rebranding efforts.
Betting On The UFL
Unfortunately, there are no USFL or XFL divisional betting odds available at this time; however, popular online sportsbooks have been offering odds during the season. Futures generally appear a few weeks before the season begins, and game lines are usually available the week of the competition.
Future odds have been geared towards betting on the UFL Championship, but as the league continues to grow, we expect to see the odds follow the NFL format with divisional and conference odds added to the list. Player props are almost non-existent, severely limiting the betting options available to fans for the league.
